So if you read the brilliant Battlemum blog you will know that the lovely Catherine and her family are leaving Wales for an adventure in Portugal. But I couldn’t let her leave without one last family photoshoot, so a few weeks ago we headed to the Wennalt in the Spring sunshine.
As you can imagine, the Battle family were pretty busy preparing for their big move when they had the session. It’s hard to find the time to have family photographs taken, family life can be so hectic, but I’m pretty sure they were glad they found the time. They even brought their adorable dog.
We spent 2 hours wandering through the woods, enjoying the spring sunshine. Although were a tad too early for the bluebells, the woods were still beautiful. We found an old, hollowed out tree that provided great fun, and of course lots of sticks, the bigger the better.
It was a lovely relaxed session, and that’s my aim for all my sessions. I know families are busy and so I don’t want the session to be a chore, I want it to be a family day out. That’s why during my sessions I don’t ask families to sit still, instead I like to give prompts to encourage interaction, such as playing hide and seek, ring-a-ring-a-rosie, tickle fights and who can give the best cuddles. When everyone is having fun you get natural images and real smiles.
I can’t wait to read about Battlemum’s adventures in Portugal. If you would like to follow along too you can find her at battlemum.com/.
