I can’t believe that it’s already time to let you know about my Christmas mini sessions. But having just spend the afternoon sorting out my kid’s toys I guess it’s time to start thinking about Christmas. I’ve you’re anything like me I’ll bet your weekends are filling up as fast as your bank account is diminishing, so why, dear mama, should you spend your precious time and money with me? Go grab that half-drunk, cold cup of tea you forgot to finish before the school run and I’ll tell you.
1. Get a Warm, Fuzzy Feeling
You know that episode of Peppa Pig where Miss Rabbit keeps saying, “it’s for a good cause”? Of course you do, you’ve seen every episode of Peppa Pig 12,347 times. Well, I’m going to put on my best Miss Rabbit voice and say, “It’s for a good cause”. It’s my second year partnering with the amazing, local Charity, Follow Your Dreams. I’m donating 15% of all proceeds to them. Last year we raised £100 to support children and young people with learning difficulties. This year I’m hoping to raise even more. So you’re not just getting gorgeous images of your little darlings, you’re also doing your bit. Hint – this one is a great reason if you need to get the other half on board ;).
2. Twice the Fun with Two Sets
Do you struggle to decide on a theme for your Christmas decorations? So you end up with half the house looking like the White Company brochure and the other half like Charles Dickens is about to arrive. Don’t worry if you can’t decide on what sort of Christmas images you want, because this year I have two sets to choose from, and you can have both if you like. Christmas sparkle is sumptuous in gold and white, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and shining stars. Rustic winter is rich and bold, with Christmas trees and festive treats. You’ll have plenty of images to choose from.
3. Perfect Packages for You to Choose
There’s no need to break the bank to get gorgeous festive images (because lets be fair, you’ll probably do that in Smyths Toys instead). Christmas mini sessions are only £30 and include a 7×5 print. This is the most affordable way to have a portrait session with me. If you would like more prints, digital images or gifts, I offer a selection of packages, so you can choose how much you spend.
4. Be the Family Hero with Great Gifts
Remember that year great-grandma Doris told you the perfume you got her smelt like old socks? Don’t make that mistake again, Get all the grandkids together for a photo and she will proudly display it on her mantelpiece next to her collection of ceramic cats. You win the best gift award whilst everyone else gets her slippers. Take that uncle Bob!
5. Squeeze It In Around Your Busy Social Life (well, your kids busy social life)
My weekend plans include a fun game of ‘what happened to your other school cardigans?’ and falling asleep in front of Netflix. My kid, she’s so busy with parties and play dates that she needs a secretary (oh wait, she has one 🙋 ). So since you’re probably going to be fitting in this Christmas Mini Session between swimming lessons and Talulah’s unicorn themed birthday party, I’ll make it quick. Sessions are only 30 minutes long. Enough time to get some beautiful images and still have time to enjoy the weekend.
Plus, you have two dates to choose from, October 28th and November 11th.
6. Lactose-free sessions (A.K.A no cheese!)
Is the idea of persuading your tiny tornadoes to sit still and smile about as appealing as doing the weekly shop on Saturday afternoon with a tantruming toddler? I often get told by parents that their children do not like sitting still (unless they’ve pinched your phone to watch a grown up open eggs on YouTube). My approach to sessions is to work with nature, not against it. During my sessions I let kids play and explore so I can get natural smiles.
7. Get the Christmas Cards Sorted
Ha! You’ve got me here haven’t you? I hear you say, “but Donna, I bought all my Christmas cards last year in the January sale, so I’m good thanks”. Yeah, but do you know where they are 😏? Last year I bought a personalised Christmas book in July. 18 months later, no idea where it is! And even if you are super organised and know where your cards are, imagine how pleased your family and friends will be with a personalised card. Who wouldn’t be delighted to see your children’s smiling faces on their card. I mean, they are gorgeous kids.
8. Be The Organised Super Mum!
Christmas eve: 9.32pm. You’re hurriedly wrapping great-grandma Doris’s present in Paw Patrol wrapping paper. You wish you were a bit more organised, like that smug PTA mummy. “OK Barbara, no one wants to hear how you wrap all your presents in August!”
Well dust of your cape, super mummy, because you’ve got your Christmas photos and gifts sorted before the John Lewis Christmas ad drops this year. You deserve a glass of Baileys and a mince pie. I can even gift wrap your prints and gifts.
9. Christmas Wonder is Fleeting, Save these memories
According to a survey by Made For Mums, only 52% of children believe in Santa clause by the age of 8. By the age of 10, this drops to less than 20%. We only have a limited number of Christmases where our children delight in the magic of Christmas. They change so much each year when they are young, so capture those memories with beautiful images you will treasure forever. From the first few years, where they just want to eat the tinsel, to the teen years where it’s going to cost you if you want them to wear matching Christmas jumpers. Mark these moments not just for great grandma Doris but for yourself.
