I get it, booking a family photoshoot is a big deal. it’s something you probably do only once every few years. Many people I speak to have been meaning to book a family photoshoot for the longest time, but they never get around it.
If you are thinking of booking a family photoshoot with me, here’s what you can expect.
Step 1 – Enquire About Your Family Photoshoot
Drop me a quick message and I’ll get back to you. There’s no need to give me lots of details at this stage if you don’t want to, just let me know you would like a family session and leave your contact details. You can contact me through my website here, email me a email@example.com, send a message through my Facebook page or call me on 07815 561 560.
I sometimes have last minute availability but if you have a specific date in mind, especially on weekends and during busy periods, it’s best to book at least a month in advance.
When I get your message I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I’ll send you an email and plan a time to give you a quick call. Don’t worry, it’s not one of those pushy sales calls, it’s just easier to get everything planned on the phone.
Step 2 – Phone Call
I’ll give you a quick call at a time that suits you. Usually this is only about 5 to 10 minutes long, unless we get chatting :). During the call I’ll get some information for you about your family and your ideas and I’ll help you plan the family photoshoot that you have been dreaming of. You also get the chance to ask me anything you would like to. If you choose to book your session we’ll set a date that’s great for both of us.
I’ll help you choose you location. feel free to make your own suggestions or use mine.
If you’re really not big on phone calls we can do this over email/messenger instead, there’s no obligation to have a phone call.
Step 3 – Helpful Information and deposit
I’ll confirm the session details by email and I’ll send you my family prep guide, which helps you prepare for your session. if you need any help or additional information between now and the session, such as choosing your outfits, please feel free to contact me.
I’ll also send you payment details for the £30 deposit, which is required to save your space.
Step 4 – Session Reminder
The day before your session I’ll contact you to confirm. If the weather isn’t looking good we’ll plan a new date. If your children are under the weather let me know as soon as possible so that we can reschedule.
Step 5 – During Your Family Photoshoot
We’ll meet up and head to the first spot. I won’t start shooting straight away so that everyone gets a chance to relax and get used to me being there. I’ll give you some gentle prompts so that you’re standing in the right spot, but most of the time I’ll be standing on the sidelines and letting you all interact naturally with each other. Don’t worry, after a few minutes you’ll forget about the camera and relax, doing what you usually do with your family. Occasionally I’ll ask you to repeat something or move a little to get the best images.
Depending on how old your children are I may suggest some games to get everyone relaxed and having fun. Ring-a-roses, red light, green light and Simon says usually get the kids laughing and smiling.
In order to get a good variety of images we’ll move around a little. I take my cue from the children so if any time during the session they need a little break then I am happy to step away and give them some time. My sessions normally last around 60 to 90 minutes but I’m happy to stay longer if needed, so there’s no rush.
The session time usually depends on the children’s ages. Older children are happy playing, but with babies under two sessions are a lot shorted, often under 1 hour. Don’t worry if your session is shorter than you expected because the children have had enough, I understand that little children have short attention spans so I ensure that I get a good variety of images in a short time.
Step 6 – After Your Session
After your session, with your permission I put a sneak peek on my Facebook page. Of course this is entirely optional and I will only share your images with your permission.
Around 2 weeks after your session I will send your gallery. This will be password protected so that only you can access it. You’ll get the opportunity to view your images at your own time, without any pushy sales. I’ll also remind you of the products and collections I have available.
Your gallery will remain active for two weeks to allow you to make your choices. During this time I am available to help with anything you need, such as choosing frames for your images.
Products can be purchased by bank transfer, PayPal, credit or debit card. Once ordered, they take between 1 to 2 weeks to deliver depending on the products.
Products can be collected from my studio in Pontypridd or delivered to your home for a small fee.
Step 7 – Enjoy Your Images
Now you just get to sit back, enjoy your beautiful artwork and treasure the joyful memories.
