If you’ve found yourself on this page for cake smash photography, chances are you’ve survived the first year of parenthood, congratulations!
I’ll bet it only feels like yesterday when you brought that tiny bundle home from hospital, excited to take your little baby home but at the same time terrified someone would figure out that you know nothing about how to take care of an infant. We’ve all be there.
Since then you’ve survived a year of sleepless nights, countless nappies and the odd poonami or two. You’ve had sweet snuggles and seen your precious baby grow and change every day.
What better way to mark the occasion that with fun-filled cake smash photography.
At around one year old babies are really showing their little personalities, so cake smash photography is a great way to capture their smiles.
Your cake smash photography session will be help in my studio in Pontypridd, so you don’t need to worry about cleaning up the mess afterwards.
If you have a theme in mind, that’s great! I’m happy to create a setup that’s perfect for your sweet baby. If you don’t have a theme, I’ll work with you to find one that’s suitable, whether it’s a simple, elegant design like blue and white, or a more detailed set up, like my hand painted Peter Rabbit backdrop. Here are some popular cake smash ideas to help you out:
- Peter Rabbit
- Shabby Chic
- Blue and white
- Under the Sea
You can even combine a family session with an outdoor cake smash if the weather allows.
We start with some traditional images before bringing out the cake. Siblings are very welcome at cake smash photography sessions and this is a great time to include them in the photos. Your baby can wear their own outfit for this session or you can use one of mine. All outfits and props are included in the session fee.
After a few pictures I’ll bring out the cake, which is included in the price of your session. Some babies love to dive right in, others need some encouragement to get messy. Whatever your baby’s personality, I’ll work with them to make sure they’re happy during the session.
After the cake has been demolished (or if baby has decided they’ve had enough!) We’ll move on to the splash! All my cake smash photography sessions include a bubble bath, so you go home with a clean baby, even if they put their face in the icing (it happens!).
The splash session is also perfect to get some more images. Not all babies want to smash the cake, but I’ve yet to meet a baby that didn’t like a bubble bath!
